Sir Michael Palin helps kick off Borders Book Festival

A four-day celebration of literature is kicking off in the Borders with a busy programme of events.

Among the speakers on the opening day of the Borders Book Festival in Melrose is the actor, writer and presenter Sir Michael Palin.

The festival will also see the announcement of the winner of the prestigious Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction.

The latest edition – at its traditional Harmony Garden location – runs until Sunday.
